In the middle of the tropical jungle, where the flora and fauna create a spectacular natural scene, the mystic of the area, the Caribbean tradition and the various attractions let you perfectly enjoy the gifts of nature that are the reasons why our country is called “Costa Rica” and why our hotel is located in the middle of the paradise. From our Lodge you can reach the rainforest, the National Park, the nesting of the green turtle, but most of all it is the most amazing area you can imagine. The tourist who comes to Samoa Lodge will enjoy excursions on the river into the Tortuguero Canals or on the trails into the woods. Whatever the way, it is for sure that will never forget the experiences in this tropical fantasy encounter. Different from the rest of the country the inhabitants of the Caribbean a mix of the original Indian culture with the African, Oriental and Spanish culture resulting in a rich combination that reflects in the spices and exquisite meals that you can enjoy in our restaurant.
ROOMS
STANDARD ROOM: Our rooms have hot water, ceiling fans, one or two double beds,or choose three single beds and private bathrooms.
ITINERARY:
Day 01:
At 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. pick-ups at the major hotels of San José. We also estimate further pick-ups at the restaurant Caribbean Dish in Siquirres at 9:00 a.m. for all those people returning from other tours and for whom it is easier to participate in this tour from there. During the trip, our clients will enjoy the beautiful sight of the Central Valley, passing by the coffee plantations, known as "Grano de Oro", the guide will provide a brief socio-economical and historical explanation about the coffee production in Costa Rica. Later on the road, we will be going close by the Braulio Carrillo National Park, which is located 7500 feet above the sea level and is one of the places with most variety of birds, mammals, flora and fauna. Arriving to Guápiles will stop for typical breakfast.Banana Plantations and Packing Stations: Visit of 15 minutes where the tourist can appreciate a close-up view of the whole process of cutting, preparation and packing of the bananas for exportation, accompanied by ample information by your guide.
We reach the peer of Caño Blanco where we will get ready to for the boat that will take us through the exuberant canals of Tortuguero, where the hotel is located.
We will check in, have lunch and get ready for the tour to the village in the afternoon.
Tour to the village of Tortuguero with detailed information on its history, culture and work in favor of conservation of the sea turtles and the flora and fauna in general. We will also visit the Sea Museum of the “Caribbean Conservation Corporation”, where the guest completes the information received during the village-tour. You can enjoy a walk through the gift-shops and get a typical Caribbean souvenir. Duration of the tour: 1½ hours
Day 02:
OPTIONAL MORNING TOUR: Morning- Tour: On the second day, early morning visit of the canals within the National park to discover a large variety of bird and to receive detailed information on the flora and fauna. Duration of the tour: 2 hoursHill of Tortuguero: This tour is included in the trip of 3 days/ 2 nights. It provides impressive views on the whole valley of Tortuguero and from the trail it is easy to discover its different species of inhabitants among which are three different kinds of monkeys, sloths, caimans, turtles, iguanas, poison arrow frogs and many birds and insects including the blue butterfly (Morpho peleides).
On the Hotel property you have the possibility to take a walk on the different trails through exuberant vegetation full of life, as well as through the gardens on the property to discover various species of exotic and tropical flowers.
Day 03:
Breakfast at the lodge.Departure to San José.
Lunch en route.
Arrival in San José late afternoon.
